Boutique Cupcakes at Lintas Plaza, Kota Kinabalu

>> Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Finally, cupcakes cupcakes in Kota Kinabalu at Lintas Plaza (the place where big cars park whichever style they like? hehe...)

From left to right - Green with Envy, Mocha Shot, Chocolate Madness (RM5 each)

Green with Envy - Green tea cupcake filled with red bean paste and topped off with green tea and whipped cream frosting

Mocha Shot - Mocha cupcake topped with mocha buttercream frosting and chocolate chips

Chocolate Madness - Chocolate cupcake topped with rich chocolate ganache frosting swirled on top

My fav out of the three would be the green tea because of the light taste I guess. The buttercream frosting of mocha shot turned out like over-creamy or maybe I was too full that day. Hehe... The chocolate is just nice although I was expecting to 'go mad' after eating it. They gave a free testing of their home-made chocolate when I went there. The chocolate was nice!

Overall, nice cupcakes and pretty designs. It's worth for the price I guess since it's a normal 'muffin' size and I can't finish one alone. I hope boutique cupcakes can make mini cupcakes, it will be great for customers like me who would like to try out all the flavours. :) Ooh, I found out they have website and you can do online purchase of the cupcakes...Nyummy! (Oh, I just saw that actually you need to pickup the cupcakes within 2 hours after order online. For delivery, min is 50 cupcakes). Check out their site myboutiquecupcakes. There's another cupcake shop there I have yet to try. Hopefully, next time.

Sailors' @ Grand Millennium, Penampang

>> Friday, February 11, 2011

Sailors' - Jazz. Food. Chillout. Like what written on the signboard. I heard about this place from my friend and so decided to try it out. Sailors' is located at 1st floor above the famous Krishna's fish head curry house (not exactly above la). I'm not sure what you call this area, Grand Millennium or Taman Millennium but for sure it's the Millennium area, Penampang. Try GoogleMap 'Jalan Pintas Penampang' and you'll pass this area with Chua Kah Seng the famous supermarket there. Hehe... Sailors' is a nice place to hangout with drinks on the house (water, coffee or tea). We ordered baked chicken wings in dozen, grilled NZ lamb shoulder and fish & chips. I like the fish and chips - just nice and big portion. Something's missing in the pasta flavour (served with the grilled NZ lamb shoulder), otherwise it'll be perfect. I love chicken wings but the baked chicken wings were too oily. Hope Sailors' can improve on that. *wink* Definitely coming back.

Ngau Chap at Kedai Kopi Lai Heng Baru, Foh Sang

>> Tuesday, February 1, 2011

I'm not sure if there's Lai Heng Lama or not. The kedai kopi is located between Kedai Kopi Yun Heng Baru and Sports Toto. Same row with KFC, Foh Sang. There's always traffic jam in this area and very slow moving traffic. Hard to find parking too. I went to this ngau chap shop few days ago for late breakfast/lunch - brunch. Ngau Chap is Beef Soup Noodles. Ngau Chap is Cantonese language and Ngiu Chap is in Hakka. Ngam kah? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong. 'Ngau' (牛) is lembu, lembu is ox, lembu meat is beef, Ngau is my friend. :p Haha! I don't really know how to evaluate and rate a ngau chap bowl but since this place got many people when I arrived, it should be nice then. My sis and mum like this place too. I ordered ngau chap kon lou (kon lou - dry type noodles) with beef balls soup (you can mix everything in the soup, but I choose beef balls only). I like the beef balls and soup. Both noodle and beef balls portion are more than enough for me. I think this place is halal because they only serve beef noodles and I saw few muslims eat there also.
